How we started

Founded in 1953 by the late Alex Matus Sr., Matus Windows started as a one-man operation of assembling jalousie windows, storm doors and screens in the basement of his home. During the 1960's and 1970's, replacement windows gained popularity and the business grew with the increased demand. It was during this time that his three sons began to help out by installing windows and doors for the family business after school, on Saturdays, and in the summer months.

With only word of mouth advertising, steady growth continued into the 1980's. To ensure the continuation of quality installations, in 1985, the business leadership was passed to his sons: Alex, David, and Keith. Mr. Matus' ideals of a strong work ethic and a commitment for doing whatever it takes to ensure customer satisfaction were also passed.

Continued growth

With the addition of a showroom in Glenside and a warehouse in Oreland, Matus Windows continued to grow throughout the 1990's. At the same time, the business broadened its product lines to include Marvin and Integrity wood windows and doors. Marvin and Integrity products soon became very popular among homeowners and builders. In addition to installed sales, the business was now able to supply windows and doors to builders, contractors, and "do-it-yourselfers". By offering expert advice, attention to detail, scaled drawings, and pencil-sharpened quotes, Matus Windows quickly became a key supplier to the area's builders and contractors.
